A note from Dr. Medwedeff

Flu is reaching a new peak in North Texas.

The local news reports a middle school in Coppell as having 300 absences each of last 2 days (January 29th) due to Flu.

It is not too late for the flu shot, and it is showing to be quite effective this year.

The Flu vaccination begins to protects you 2 weeks after injection.  If a vaccinated person gets the flu, their immune system is activated to fight the flu more efficiently, which will reduce severity and duration of illness.

You should get the shot even if you have had the flu!  While the H1N1 is the most prevalent strain, there are several infectious strains being transmitted and the flu shot covers these strains.  Last years' flu season went well into May.

Get your flu shot now!
